Sheriff’s Office Makes Quick Arrests in Calmes Neck Burglary and Larcenies

The Clarke County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene of a burglary and several larcenies from vehicles Friday night and was able to quickly arrest two suspects in connection with the rural crime spree.

During the early morning hours of September 23, 2011 at least one residence in the Mount Carmel and Calmes Neck area of Clarke County was burglarized, and at least five   vehicles were broken into, with items removed. Police were alerted to the activity and a deputy was able to observe the suspects in the area of the crimes. Thirty-one year old Anthony Boyd of Front Royal, Virginia, and forty-five year old Garriel Lee Brill also of Front Royal   were arrested by Clarke County Sheriff’s deputies on the scene.

Boyd is charged with one count of a weapons violation, and is being held without bond in the regional jail.   Brill is charged with one count of burglary, and is also being held without bond in the regional jail.

Police officials said there is an active investigation into a destruction of property charge because it appeared that the suspects had broken through a steel gate at the entrance of the community.

Other charges against the two are pending, as the investigation continues. Police continue to survey the residents to determine if there were additional burglaries.
