Student and Volunteer Openings for Therapeutic Riding

The Blue Ridge Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship (BRCTH) 8-week Fall Riding Session will begin the week of Sept. 6th at Horse Patch Farm in Boyce, VA.   Lessons are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays.     We serve children and adults with disabling conditions in the northern Shenandoah Valley.   There are several openings for students, and interested persons should contact Margie Youngs at 540-837-1575 or for more information and to request a registration packet.

BRCTH is inviting enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as lesson volunteers.   Lesson volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.   Equine experience is required for the position of leader, and is preferred, but not required for the side-walker position.   Two training sessions are required of all lesson volunteers: an off-site training is scheduled for Wednesday, August 25th at 6:00 pm at the Millwood Community Center.   Informational materials will be distributed and refreshments will be served.  Trainees must attend either of the on-site trainings which are scheduled for 5:00 pm on Monday, August 30th and Wednesday, Sept 1st at the farm.   The on-site training will be very hands-on and cannot be attended without first attending the off-site training.   Please call Volunteer Coordinator, Tara Whitman at 703-598-6715 or e-mail at to register or to seek further information.
