The Saga of Brave Mr. Crunch

Hello everyone!

The girls at the shelter asked me to wish everyone Happy Spring, and they hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Easter holiday.

But now onto more important things.

Mr. Crunch after surgery required from being struck by a car.

My name is “Mr.Crunch” and in my short time here on Earth I have been through so much. And it hasn’t always been easy. The girls tell me I am somewhere between two and four years old.

Sometime in February a nice young woman found me on the side of the road. I had been hit and run over by a car and was suffering from extensive injuries. Thank goodness she was a veterinarian technician working at the nearby Roseville Vet. She promptly took me with her to work, where they looked me over. And you just would not believe what I had wrong with me!

X-rays showed broken ribs all along my right side and two fractured eye sockets. And on top of that I had been de-gloved. I have no idea what that means, but the vets explained it to the girls. It means that all the skin and muscle from my chin on back to my throat had been removed from my bone. It’s gross, I know.

But thanks to the wonderful people at Roseville, and the Clarke County Humane Foundation for paying form my surgery, I was able to start the road to recovery.

I had to have stitches in my mouth, and everything wired back to my chin. I had to eat nothing but wet, mushy food for weeks, but man that stuff is good!

After having healed completely, having the stitches and wires removed, they have discovered that as a result of the fractured eye socket, I have lost my vision in my left eye.

However, while they were fixing me up they decided to neuter me too. And the girls gave me a feline vaccine, to make sure I don’t get sick.

Because all of this happened, the girls here want to make sure I get a really, really, really good home. And I must agree with them. After everything that has happened, all I want is a forever home where someone will just love me, and hold me, and take care of me. I don’t think I could handle anything else. I am a very sweet, loving, affectionate cat, who just wants those same things in return.

Could you be the person to give them to me?

Mr. Crunch today.

If you have any further questions about me, please contact the animal shelter at 540) 955 – 5104. Ask for Jenny or Brittany.

**NOTE** Jenny and Brittany would like to say a very special THANK YOU to the Humane Foundation for covering “Mr. Crunch’s” medical expenses during his stay, and follow-up visits at Roseville Vet. We would also like to say THANK YOU to the staff at Roseville Vet for their wonderful work with “Mr.Crunch”.
