Unions End Strike Against Verizon

Members of CWA and IBEW at Verizon Communications will return to work on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at which time their contract will be back in force for an indefinite period.

The Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers issued the following statement:

We have reached agreement with Verizon on how bargaining will proceed and how it will be restructured. The major issues remain to be discussed, but overall, issues now are focused and narrowed.

We appreciate the unity of our members and the support of so many in the greater community. Now we will focus on bargaining fairly and moving forward.

Details are not yet available on what   concessions were agreed upon to end the strike that sent 45,000 workers off the job in the wire line division of Verizon.

In this economy they should be glad top have a job. Unions may have served a purpose at some point, but are rarely needed now. Besides, you don’t see the union officials not getting a paycheck during a strike!!! And the acts of sabatoge are childish and do not help their cause at all.
