Val Kilmer, the man who played “Iceman” Kazanski in “Top Gun” will be traveling to Winchester, Virginia to serve as Grand Marshal of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. Kilmer will arrive in Winchester on the evening of April 30th and has been scheduled to make appearances at both the “Edward Jones Queen’s Ball” and the “Jim Stutzman Chevrolet-Cadillac Beach House on the Bloom” on Friday night and will be the featured attraction in Saturday’s Grand Feature Parade.
Kilmer is taking time from his busy acting career to visit Winchester. In 2010, he has one movie filming and five movies in post-production.
Event organizers said, “It is, in all honesty, exceedingly rare for the Festival to be able to find a star of this magnitude who is so accessible; a star who enjoys getting out into the real world to see what is going on outside of Hollywood; and, a star willing and able to work around almost insurmountable scheduling difficulties to come to Winchester.”
Festival Organizers hope that the Bloom Nation will turn out in droves to show Val the best of life in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and West Virginia.
The 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival runs from April 23 through May 2, 2010
