VDOT has scheduled work to mitigate a sinkhole that appeared in the median of Route 50 in Clarke County. Repairs to the sinkhole will be performed on June 23 and June 24. Work began around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning and will conclude around 4 p.m. on Friday. The westbound passing lane and the eastbound left shoulder will be closed during the work. This location is in the vicinity of Millwood Road (Route 723).
During the week of June 27 a paved ditch will be installed at the sinkhole repair site. There will be a single lane closure on Route 50 westbound at that time.
Also in Clarke County, repairs to a sinkhole off of Route 50 located 0.2 miles north of Route 750 will begin on June 27 at 7 a.m. The repairs are expected to last three days. The Route 50 eastbound right lane will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. or later during the work.
