William Herbert Whiting, 59, of Markham, Virginia, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 in the Winchester Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1950 in Winchester, Virginia. He is survived by his mother, Lorene W. Edmunds and her husband, Arthur H. Edmunds of Harrisonburg, VA; his father, Richard Beverly Whiting and his wife, Henrietta Renshaw Whiting of Berryville, VA; a sister, Sally W. Tomblin and her husband, Glen Edward Tomblin of Winchester, VA; and his former wife and best friend, Judy B. Whiting of Stephens City, VA. He was the beloved Uncle of Amy T. Henkel, Lori T. Omps, John E. Tomblin, Mark M. Sherry and Elizabeth S. Uebelhoer.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly W. Sherry of Winchester, VA on September 4, 1999.
He was a graduate of Clarke County High School and received a B. A. in English from the University of Virginia. He was a professional artist, renowned for his pastoral landscapes of the Shenandoah Valley. His work was exhibited in many regional galleries and private shows.
Services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel in Berryville, VA. It will be officiated by The Rev. Webster Gibson and assisted by The Rev. Susan E. Bentley and The Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
