Winter Storm 2009: Digging Out & Looking Ahead

22 inches of snow blanketed Clarke County over the weekend in a record breaking storm that slowly spread across the East Coast region from Friday through Sunday morning.   Similar amounts were recorded for all the local counties, with more snow recorded in the West and South.   Wintergreen Resort reported 30 inches of snow.

Planning on traveling this Christmas?   The National Weather Service offers the following hazardous weather outlook for the week ahead.

For Eastern West Virginia…Northern and Central Virginia…and Central and Western Maryland with the exception of Garrett County.    

Today and  tonight – re-freezing of snow and sluch will lead to areas of black ice.  

Tuesday through Sunday there is a chance of wintry mix of perciptation on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.
